Star Student Athletes: Mikayla Whitney
Senior Mikayla Whitney is in many of the clubs and on the cheer team. She is an achieved cheerleader and at the top of her class in academics.
She is the senior class president. “As the class president I raise funds and set up fundraisers, lead our class to victories in competitions, Co-chair committees in SGA class, and mentor in leadership skills development class,” said Whitney.
Whitney is also the DECA vice president of membership. “I attended events and I was a DECA senator sophomore and junior year, I went to DECA states and I loved it. I have also competed in testing and role play,” said Whitney
Whitney restarted SADD club. SADD club stands for “Students Against Destructive Decisions.” She is the Vice President and she hosts forums and talks. “Julia Estroff and I decided to restart the SADD club here at charter because we want to teach our schoolmates the possible effects of destructive decisions and encourage them to make better decisions,” said Whitney
Whitney has many scholarly achievements that she has obtained throughout her years at charter. “I have had A honor roll in all four years at charter, I won an All Florida in broadcast at FSPA states, I placed 2nd at FASC convention, and received the MVP award at the same convention,” said Whitney
Not only is Whitney a scholar, she is also on the Varsity cheer team. She has been on varsity since sophomore year, she was on JV for freshman year. “I have been a varsity cheerleader for three years and I have been on the competition cheer team for four years. I was also named face of charter by the athletic department,” said Whitney
In 2020, Whitney and her cheer team won runner up at states in 2020. “Getting only runner up pushed us to work harder and hopefully win states this year,” said Whitney.
Sidney is a senior. She is a senator, a volleyball player, and a member of NHS. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with her friends and family.
