Toline Abdelhafiz is a junior who primarily plays guitar. She does not publicly post her music, but she does like to learn from making her own songs, and re-creating others. She’s a member of the BPM club and here’s a bit about her as a musician.
How long have you been producing music?
“I have been a musician for about a year.”
Would you consider yourself “popular” amongst your peers?
“I don’t see myself as popular, social-wise or music-wise. I don’t publish my music as I see them as experiments. I don’t see myself getting big on music as it’s not my main path but I will see where life takes me.”
Favorite Sample-Sharing Services?
“I mainly use TikTok as I find some small riffs or clips. It is kinda helpful as it serves as a Google but for sample-able videos.”
Favorite Song You’ve Made?
“The favorite song I made was a guitar tab piece. It has no name, but it has a soul vibe to it with a slow tempo and a lo-fi type beat.”
Favorite Piece of Music Gear?
“My favorite piece of equipment would be my Ibanez electric guitar. I have been playing guitar for a while, however the electric is a recent member to my collection and it has been my favorite by far.”
Favorite Musicians?
“Some favorite musicians are Casper Esmann and Alex Benjamin. Esmann’s music is mostly fingerstyle and a couple ‘experimental’ videos. He does a couple techniques from vibrato to finger picking. Benjamin has an acoustic vibe with a couple R&B and soul type songs.”
What’s your general process when you sit down to make a song?
“Producing my own music is rare, however when I do, I normally start with figuring out an outline with the rhythm, vibe and genre. I experiment with my guitar and try to come up with any sort of melody I like. I use a website that shows notation and guitar tabs and I just put in the tab that I come up with. From there, I add either chords or lyrics and build a whole track out of it.”
