HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America) is a club that gives student medical experience for future medical professions. This club helps students have a sense of what the career that they are interested in is like. The club’s members consist of anyone interested in a career in healthcare. HOSA club holds events, programs, and meetings throughout the year.
“HOSA is a future professional. It’s an international organization and its members globally include Anyone interested in a career in healthcare, from doctors and veterinarians to athletic trainers and medical journalists,” said HOSA President Madison Clark. “Our biggest events throughout the year are competitions, CPR certifications, and guest speakers that come in and talk about their careers/processes and do community service. Right now, we are putting together donations and bags for the children in the critical area at Broward Health North Hospital.”
HOSA can be a huge help to students that are interested in the healthcare profession through the events and programs that the club has to offer.
“I think HOSA is a large help to someone who is interested in the healthcare profession. It has provided me with many opportunities whether getting CPR certified, listening to medical professionals’ presentations/advice, or even making it to states has really broadened my knowledge of health professionals.” Said sophomore Brooke Clark. Those who are interested can learn a lot from HOSA, making them more prepared, ready, and knowledgeable about the health career.
“It starts showing you what you need to know and helps you get some experience about what the medical world is like. It also shows how you can help people, which can be a very useful tool in the medical world,” said freshman Hayden Harris. Through events like CPR certification, you get exposure to the medical field that help you broaden your knowledge.
Overall, HOSA is a huge help to anyone interested in pursuing a career in the medical field. Through its numerous events, fundraisers, and presentations, members get the experience and exposure they need to be ready to take on a medical profession.
