Now that Disney has reached its 100-year anniversary, lasting from September 22 to December 31, 2023, we have certainly been given a throwback into all the memories we have of this magical part of our childhood. Disney has always held a special place in most of our hearts. Many have been raised on it, by either growing up watching the Disney classics or by visiting the most magical place on earth itself.
Disney was founded in 1923 by Walt Disney and Roy O. Disney where they have experienced many hardships, it’s most significant being the global COVID-19 pandemic which resulted in many negative effects. Despite these challenges, Disney has been able to adapt as one of the biggest and best-known companies in the world. Disney still continues to evolve, with many plans for this company.
Located at each Disney Park, you will see specific purple and silver decorations signifying this anniversary. Epcot, one of their parks which is known for its futuristic ambiance and its replicas of international countries, will be the focal point for all of Disney100 festivities. An immense number of 100 Disney Characters are featured in an expansive mural located along the walkway to World Showcase. It displays a variety of characters ranging from the old to the new. In addition to this, they have festive, captivating banners which are placed around the park. Epcot’s famous “Spaceship Earth” also takes part by presenting their beautiful 100-year display. Even Mickey and Minnie Mouse are dressed up in this adorable coordination of colors as their Disney100 Celebration attire. At the parks, you will get the chance to meet the characters.
Additionally, Epcot’s ride “Soarin’ Around the World” has brought back “Soarin’ over California” in celebration of Disney100 for a limited time. Many have said that it brought so many familiar scents, and sounds back for a wave of nostalgia as the old California version was the first version of this ride.
Throughout Disney’s huge milestone, we can definitely say that it has successfully created an immense impact on this world. Disney has created a short film called Once Upon a Studio, which is located on Disney+, that gives us a nostalgic trip into the history of the company. It includes their most iconic characters such as Oswald, Cinderella, Pinocchio, and of course, Snow White. “I think it was cute and definitely could inspire younger kids,” said 9th grader Peyton Moser. “It shows all of the different characters through the years of Disney and the evolution of them ranging from the way they act, and each of their own individual stories.”
In addition to this sentimental film, guests now have the opportunity to bring their own piece of this memorable anniversary home with them. This collection of merch has been created to honor this special event in history by not just offering cups and clothing items, but also a purple, reflective, shiny popcorn bucket in the shape of their beloved classic Mickey Disney balloons which are limited edition. Having these souvenirs will create a long-lasting connection to this significant occasion.
