Five Nights at Freddy’s (FNAF) all began way back in 2014. FNAF was a childhood game to many children, and even a game adults loved. In 2015, FNAF had become one of the most uploaded video games to YouTube, and was featured by many influencers such as Markiplier, Jacksepticeye, and PewDiePie. The game is about a night security guard working at a family pizzeria joint. Little did the player know, they would be babysitting animatronics that have the souls of children to be able to move at night.
Fans have been begging and begging for a movie when it first started gaining popularity back in 2015. Now, 8-9 years later, we got one, and it was the worst mistake they could’ve ever made.
To start off, there were barely any jump scares in the movie, and when there were, it was by one animatronic that shouldn’t have even been in the movie to begin with. They added characters that were in different games, and only one from each game. This doesn’t make sense since they didn’t add in all the characters from each of the games. Mostly, it would make sense since there would be too many characters. At the same time, they could have started with the 1st game with all the characters and have several different movies to come and would’ve been an amazing series.
We started with characters from the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and then Sister Location with the character Circus Baby, which has nothing to do with the whole story line. They added an unfunny YouTuber to the cutscene at the end. This pissed off a lot of fans as they were waiting for a scene of Markiplier, or at least a better youtuber that dedicated most of his channel to this game. This is another issue which is understandable, but when you know all the details of the game and the lore, it’s upsetting.
The animatronics acted as children. We all know how children like to play around, but when you’ve played the game, it shows how the birthday boy gets bullied by his brother, and then killed by him and his friends on his birthday as a joke, by being stuffed in the animatronics mouth, and it closing its jaw on his neck killing him. This is all in the game but not even shown in the movie. What was the point of the movie if it doesn’t follow what the games have shown?
There have been different opinions. Many fans liked it, but many hated it for how it was portrayed. The movie didn’t follow anything from the games, and had the animatronics show to be friendly when they were not in the game.
The movie added very small details from different games that didn’t even make sense to the story. This was more of a pg movie then a pg-13 movie. The best part of this movie probably was how red Freddy’s eyes were as if he was high. Other than that, this movie was a flop. I had great hopes when the trailer wasn’t even out yet, how amazing it would’ve been, just to get disappointed in the outcome. Even with the trailer, it looked as if it would be amazing.
