Ever since Fortnite took away the OG map, it has not ever been the same. The game Fortnite arose from nothing into one of the most popular games within 1-2 years, and even though Epic Games brought the OG map back, players just weren’t happy because it was not the same as before.
First and foremost, Fortnite is a game that was founded by Epic Games, and was originally planned to launch on July 21, 2017, but you had to pay for early access. They then planned on releasing the game for free sometime in 2019, but this plan was not used, because it ended up being released on September 26, 2017 to the public for free. When Fortnite launched, it was only a “save the world” type of game, which means player VS environment. When Fortnite finally launched to the public, they made a new “Battle Royale” mode, and it was a hit! In Battle Royale, 100 players jump off of a “battle bus” and find weapons and other things like shield potions and medkits. Players are also able to gather resources and build to protect themselves or build what they want. There is also a thing called the “storm”, which if you go into it, you will take damage. The last player standing wins!
Moreover, Epic Games recently decided to bring the OG map once more due to the hate they got for taking it away in the first place. On November 3, 2023, “OG Fortnite” replaced the season that was soon to come, but just for a bit. This is due to the fact that it was removed on December 2, 2023. This gave players just one month to feel like a kid again, and have fun with friends like they did a few years prior. Most of the players were so content with this decision, but some weren’t. This is because they either wanted OG Fortnite to stay for a longer time, or they just did not want to play OG Fortnite again. ”I remember when Fortnite came out, and I loved it! Even though they brought back OG Fortnite, it just isn’t the same,” stated Charter student Tripp Gray. This proves that even OG players still weren’t happy with the new update because it just simply won’t be the same.
In conclusion, when Epic Games took away OG Fortnite it will not ever be the same. Seeing the way the game rose in the charts so fast is amazing, and it is still a very popular game today. Players were not as happy as they could have been, but it still gave them one more chance to experience OG Fortnite.
