SGA, Keyclub, NHS, Mu Alpha Theta, and president of the class of 2024. What can’t Yuwei Huang do?
Through years of hard work and dedication, Yuwei has risen to the top of her class. But being on top comes with both its perks and its defects.
“Because I’m up on the rank, I feel like I have to keep taking these hard classes to keep my place, so that is kind of a downside.” said Huang.
While many take classes that are easier their senior year, Yuwei continues to push to be the best she can be.
“I’m taking three AP classes and three Cambridge classes,” said Huang.
In accordance with her tough classes, she has found a way to retain the information that she needs to know in order to succeed.
“Ideally I will study a few days before. Or it may sometimes end up being two days before or the day before. But recently what I’ve been doing to study is I’ve been making a mass information dump.”
After all her years of schooling, Yuwei has come to manage her work load.
“I feel like teachers don’t actually give that much homework, and when they assign stuff, I just get it done. I always just have schoology open on my laptop so it’s always living in that corner tab,” said Huang.
As the time begins to run out and the seniors begin to apply to their dream colleges, Yuwei has already begun.
“For in-state, I applied to UCF, UF, and for out-of-state I applied to UT Austin, Perdue, Penn State, Ohio State, but I’m applying to a few more like MIT,” said Huang.
During college, she hopes to go into computer science.
“I want to go into computer science because my dad is a software engineer and he’s done stuff like this before. When we were applying, he was saying computer science has a relatively good outlook on the field and I was already interested, so I decided to pursue it,” said Huang.
Yuwei Huang is second in her class, and hopes to change the world through computer science principles.
“Yuwei is persistent, and I can’t wait to see what she does and what her future holds,” said senior Christopher Gayle.
