Tennis season has kicked off and our players have been busy playing school matches and attending practices. With the season starting, the question of how they have been doing this far into the season is in many people’s minds.
This far into the season, our boys’ varsity tennis team has been off to a hot start with a win/loss record being 6-1 as of 2/29/24. These wins were obtained by good singles matches from their starting lineup and solid doubles matches. The team have been performing well this far into the season and hope to continue to do so in the upcoming matches.
“We have been off to a great start with our record being 6-1. I expect us to keep playing strong and winning our future matches,” stated senior Christian Silva, when asked about the season and expectations for future games. The boys’ tennis team has started off very strong and hopes to keep it up in their future games.
“The team has been doing better this far into the season compared to last year. We have been playing much more solid and smart tennis instead of trying to be flashy. However, one thing we can improve on is our communications and how we pump each other up in times of need,” stated Santiago Garcia when asked about how the team was doing so far and what they could work on. This goes to show that although they have been playing very well, there is still lots of room for improvement.
The girls’ varsity tennis team has also been playing very solid tennis this far into the season. Their record so far is 4-3. They have been playing good tennis and have been winning matches against big schools. They hope to maintain the level they have been playing at for the past few years.
“The season’s going well so far! We need to definitely work on just overall team communication and getting some of the younger players more experience. Besides that, I think we’ve started what can become a good season,” stated senior Madisen Clark. They have been maintaining their level that they have been playing at these past couple years and are on road to win another state title.
“The team has been playing very well this season and I can tell everyone has been working hard during the past year. In my opinion, we can improve on match toughness and getting used to playing advanced players and giving it their all every time they step on court,” stated Senior Juhynee See.
All in all, the tennis season has been off to a hot start and the teams hope to continue at this level or even do better for many matches to come. Although they have been playing very well, they also see that they have components to work on to get better as the season progresses. They have been playing well this far into the season and hope to continue to play the same into districts.
