On September 6, 2024, Nikocado Avocado, or Nicholas Perry, published a youtube video titled “Two Steps Ahead.” To everyone’s shock, Nikocado begins the video wearing a panda head costume and looks visibly slimmer. In roughly five days, the video accumulated 1.7 million likes, and 38,461,515 views and was #1 on Trending on YouTube.
He begins the video saying, “Two steps ahead. I am always two steps ahead,” creating an eerie tone that sets the stage for the rest of the video. Throughout his mukbang, he follows this eerie condescending tone, as if the viewer is just a puppet in this game that he’s playing. One commenter mentions that, “He sounds like he’s planning the most vicious villain act of all time.” Avocado calls the rapid weight change the, “Greatest social experiment of my entire life.” He spends the first minute and 30 seconds describing how he has manipulated public perception calling society consumers and acknowledging that he has become the villain. Perry compares the behavior of his audience to ants on an ants farm, mindlessly following trends and consuming stories about him.
At roughly 3 minutes, his parrot, Mr. Noodle makes a return, which has not been heard from since 2019. In a video titled, “I Can’t Be With Him Anymore,” Perry stated that Mr. Noodle had been relocated to a new home in Colombia. The appearance of this parrot left viewers incredibly confused, accusing Nikocado of using Artificial Intelligence or that he created all these videos before he even began filming mukbangs. As he mentioned, he had been secretly losing all of the weight and publishing pre recorded footage from the past two years.
Earlier this year in a video, Nikocado had seemingly claimed that he weighed 359 pounds. In his newest video, he declared that he has lost a whopping 250 pounds, leaving him at roughly 109 pounds. Yet he had almost no loose skin. Sophomore Juliet Beauregard says that, “he has basically no excess skin which seems incredibly difficult to do even with surgery.”
Fans then took to the internet to do some deeper diving. Some accused him of using softwares to edit his appearance as in his videos he has little to no excess fat and the area around him seemed to be warped. One commenter mentioned how they have a feeling that it cannot be him and he has to have a secret twin. Nikocado wasted no time to reply to the confusion.
On September 7, 2024, he posted to the “Apple” dance by Charli XCX. This solidified peoples opinion in believing that Nikocado had truly lost weight. This is because the dance had just recently become one during the summer of 2024, leaving it practically impossible for him to be lying. Until the conspiracies began again. People accused Nikocado of hiring famous Tik Tokers to consistently post to the dance to help increase the popularity and ensure that his pre-recorded video would make sense.
Then, on September 10, he recorded a video in Las Vegas with an advertisement behind him sponsoring the Noche UCF fight on September 14, 2024. Suspicions dimmed, but skeptics prevailed. They argued that the area around him again looked odd and that he was taking old photos of him into a software to edit him doing the dance. Sophomore Paige Sorrentino said, “I don’t understand why people can’t just accept that he lost weight. I can see why you may be skeptical but all of his footage looks genuine.”
Finally on September 17, Nikocado posted a video where he looks incredibly overweight again. He voices his genuine concern for his society and said that his entire video, was a simple batman monologue, and people believed it. Perry says that everyone believed it, as if he could just “act” gaining 250 pounds. We don’t know what’s next with Nikocado and what his next steps are, but what we do know, is that he is always ahead.
