Film club is one of our school’s newest additions, but just what is it? Film club is a club where students study films and their techniques, and use these techniques in order to reproduce them. They create their own short film projects while working with one another. Film club was founded by President Cedrick Carmant and Vice President Aidan Willis, but film teacher Mark Erson is the club’s official advisor.
According to President Cedrick Carmant, “This is a great opportunity for anyone who wants to join the film industry after graduation, as it can help you build up a portfolio, or even anyone interested in trying it out.”
This club is completely free for any student who wants to join, and is “a fun way to learn about film-making while spending time with friends,” says Carmant. The club is currently looking for new members. It prepares them for any future endeavors in the film industry, and it will help students learn film and editing skills.
They work in groups together to watch and create short films that range in a variety of topics of students choice.
These skills can be beneficial in the long run for many careers, besides ones in the film industry, but can also help in marketing, social media, and news industries as well.
This club meets on specific Tuesdays in Room 218 (Erson’s). Make sure to listen out for the announcements for when the meetings will be!
