“I love kids. I love to see them put together a product that makes them proud, as well as to make their parents proud.” said Ms. Aviton, a new teacher that has come to Coral Springs Charter School to teach students about chorus.
With just her first year here, Ms. Aviton is still in charge of teaching many classes. She teaches chorus 1– which is for beginners in high school, encore– which is for more excelled students that have a better knowledge at reading music, and chorus 1 & 2 for middle school– 1 is for 6th graders and 2 is for 7th and 8th graders. She also teaches film this year, however it’s for this year only.
Not only does Ms. Aviton teach a ton of classes, but she also runs a few clubs as well. The clubs she has are Tri-M, encore, all girls’ choir, and the all boys’ choir. In the future, she will also be having a keyboard club too.
Ms. Aviton has hopes to do more in the school such as try out for other clubs. She is looking to open a fashion club and possibly a cooking club, if the rules and safety guidelines allow her to.
Although this is Ms. Aviton’s first year at CSCS, overall, she has been teaching for around eight years. She has taught chorus since college, giving people voice lessons. From then on, she has always been some sort of voice instructor.
Before teaching at CSCS, Ms. Aviton worked at an elementary school called Walker Elementary, a magnet program. Later on, she made her way to CSCS, exclaiming that she loves the environment and staff. She finds the students respectful and the staff very kind. She also describes Coral Springs Charter School as structured and organized.
One memorable experience she had in her years of teaching took place at a prior school she had worked at. “My students had the opportunity to perform for a large group of awarded teachers, principals, and even excelled students that were going into college.” Ms. Aviton continues on by explaining, “With that opportunity, the dean of schools noticed our school, specifically, the chorus program, and my students received scholarships due to that performance.” With this, Ms. Aviton aims to achieve great things with her students at CSCS and wishes to be able to create wonderful memories with the time she has here with her students.
Outside of school, Ms. Aviton performs and takes classes for her voice as well. She sings for Palm Beach Opera, and hopes to one day take her students to watch a live opera.
“I love what I do. I aspire to continue to be an amazing teacher, and I aspire to continue to grow vocally.”
