The gory series recently released a new movie in their franchise on October 11, 2024. Despite the hype surrounding the release, fans have been left feeling disappointed by the new “Terrifier 3.”
After seeing negative comments coming from movie critics saying that the director’s screenwriting is “letting them down”, I decided to watch the movie myself.
Throughout the course of the movie, I noticed positives and negatives regarding the plot. Terrifier 3 did a fantastic job at explaining plot holes that weren’t previously mentioned in past movies. For example, the movie showed Sienna’s dad was and why the killer was so connected to the family
Our generation is also receiving the movie in a positive light. Sienna is seen as the “final girl” of horror movies, as she is always the last one alive. Art is also this generation’s horror icon. Another plus for me was seeing that the movie kept up with the trend of each movie being gorier than the previous.
However, other watchers noticed that the movie mocked Jesus. The main antagonist, Art, nailed one of his victims to a wall, positioning him how Jesus was nailed to the cross. The other antagonist, Victoria, wore a crown of thorns like Jesus and said, “There is no God.” These scenes showed the movie in a bad light, creating discussions on whether or not the movie should be supported.
Despite this, I personally only had two issues with the movie. My first one being the ending of the movie. The main protagonist, Sienna, was told by her brother, Johnathan, that in order to kill Art they would have to kill his host. Though when Sienna killed the host, Art was still alive.
My second problem was the death of one of the main protagonists. As a result, people are speculating saying the character isn’t dead. If the character was killed, just not visible to the viewer, fans would likely be disappointed.
Although some scenes left fans feeling weird and uncomfortable, the movie is still seeing a growth in attention. I personally enjoy the series and I’m excited to see what the directors have in store.
