Dear Panthers,
Join us in the Panthers Playbook as we highlight the hard work, teamwork, and determination that define our school’s athletic spirit. The soccer team grows each game improving their skills and goals. While we have some of our fall sports that are ending their seasons like the girls cross country team.
Starting with the soccer team: On Tuesday, November 12th, the girl’s varsity traveled to Cypress Bay, where they faced a tough match and were defeated, 0-7.
On Wednesday, November 13th the varsity and JV boys played at home against St. Thomas Aquinas. This game was a great challenge to both teams, physically and mentally. The boys varsity team lost the game 0-4, while the JV boys fought and gave all their determination to tie, 0-0, after losing to them last year 0-6. Demonstrating how they have improved as a team, both defensive and offensive.
On Thursday, November 14th, the varsity boys and girls went up against Calvary Christian Academy. This day was important for the season especially for the boys, since it has become their first win of the season, winning 2-1. As for the girls they also won, 1-0, giving their hearts out on the field.
On Friday, November 15th, the boys varsity team successfully defeated Somerset for their second win of the season with a score of 5-0. The girls varsity team played Key West, winning 2-0. As the season advances, the players grow closer as a team, putting their troubles aside to have fun, connect as a team, and give their all on the field in pursuit of a successful season.
Next up, the cross country team: On Saturday, November 16th, the girls’ cross country team attended FHSAA States Championships, where they placed ninth out of 32 teams, with a total time of 1:46:01, an average time of 21:12, and a score of 394.
Congratulations to the following runners; Eighth-grader Kendal Parrott placed 27th with a time of 19:44.5. Freshman Alyson Thomas placed 68th with a time of 20:51.2. Freshman Lly Richardson came in 89th with a total time of 21:16.3.
Seventh-grader Cecilia Kozlowski for placing 103 with a time of 21:37.2. Freshman Sydney McDougall for placing 152 with a total time of 22:32.9. Followed closely by freshman Hailey Lockwitx, who finished 164 with a time of 23:02.0. Senior Mackenzie Maniscalco rounded out the group, finishing 169 with a total time of 23:09.4. These runners demonstrated great effort and determination in a competitive field of 235 runners. Officially ending their successful season.
