Thanksgiving is a holiday where most people spend time with family and friends. Some people enjoy the food and others enjoy people’s company. Thanksgiving isn’t such a popular holiday, since it’s right between halloween and Christmas.
The background history on Thanksgiving is believed to have taken place in 1621, when the Wampanoag people and the Plymouth colonists shared a harvest feast after a season of diplomacy. The feast lasted three days and included deer, corn, shellfish, roasted meat, ball games, singing, and dancing. Since then, people have adapted this tradition all over the world.
Some reasons why people love Thanksgiving are religion, family, vacation, no school, relaxation, food, black Friday, and football. While these are all valid reasons, there is a deeper meaning to this holiday. Families and friends bond together at this time of year to see each other after being apart for so long. Families that have relatives in the army greatly appreciate this special moment that is shared. After all, these core memories are shared. The majority of people go black Friday shopping the next day since kids are out of school for a week. They use this free time to shop online because there are endless coupons.
While there aren’t different religions that celebrate Thanksgiving differently, everyone does something unique. Some students here at Coral Springs Charter school were interviewed and this is what they had to say. Sophomore Hiba Haseeb says, “I like the food, especially the turkey.” Another student likes to travel to spend time with his family, Xavier Mejiax explains. “I am Christian, this holiday is very important to me and my family. We also go to visit my other family in Tampa.” These students are great examples of showing how they value this holiday.
For all the black Friday shoppers, these are the stores that it is best to go to. Amazon has up to 60% off, Kohl’s has up to 60% plus a 15% off, Walmart has up to 70% off, and Target has up to 50% off. These are all very good discounts and the majority of them last the whole holiday season, Christmas included. If you are interested in getting your loved one a special meaningful jewelry gift, these are the best discounts: Macy, Costco, and JCPenney. There is so much in those stores for everyone to find something unique and special.
At the end of the day, Thanksgiving holds diverse meanings for different people. While it’s widely seen as a time for gratitude and family, it also carries historical significance. Ultimately, it reflects a blend of cultural traditions, making it a meaningful holiday for everyone.
