The week of December 2nd to December 6th was SGA’s Heroes and Hounds week. Each day of the week has a new activity that helps veterans gain support through the participation of students at this school. The whole purpose of this week is for students to support veterans and K9’s for warriors foundation.
To start off, Hot Chocolate was sold every single morning in the front lobby for $2. All the money that’s collected from this event will be donated to K9s For Warriors. On the first day of this week, there was an opportunity for students to sign a giant poster with a small message in order to show the love and support they have for the veterans.
On the next day of SGA’s Heroes and Hounds week, there were several word of mouth awareness and facts posted around the school. These posts helped spread more acknowledgment than there already is about the veterans.
On Wednesday there was an opportunity for SGA members to eat breakfast with veterans. This gave them the chance to talk about their experience serving and get asked questions by people who are curious about their lifestyle and want to learn more about what they have accomplished.
On Thursday, a veteran themed Kahoot! took place. This Kahoot! was projected on the big screen during C and D lunches. This Kahoot! asked a variety of veteran themed questions. During this Kahoot!, students got the opportunity to learn new facts they didn’t know before and get the chance to win a special prize.
On the very last and final day of SGA’s hero’s and hounds week, there was an event held after school. At this event, students gathered together to make dog toys in Dean Groothuis’s Lobby.
This week full of supporting and spreading love for the K9s and veterans had a great purpose and goes to a great cause.
