Midterms are known to be a stressful part of the school year. With all the preparations needed, students feel tired and stressed after studying for hours on end. This year at CSCS, the midterm situation has been confusing to many. Not just students- but also teachers, as many questions have been asked.
Confusion Regarding Midterms
Many students, particularly freshman, have been puzzled by the rules and dates of testing. Lots of students have been seeking answers from their teachers as to why they do, or do not have a midterm. Even teachers have been unaware of the dates and times of midterms this year. “It’s been kind of confusing and stressful to get the exemption form in on time, trying to get teachers to sign it,” says freshman Bianca Galdino. She also claimed that she and her friends were not aware of when the forms were due. This is the case for many students around CSCS, which makes midterm season even more stressful.
What Else Is Causing the Stress?
Stress about midterms also comes from other things too. “I’m stressed about midterms because I don’t have time to study, and because of all the work the school assigns students,” says sophomore Ian Wilson. “I believe that teachers should give less homework and more review time in class.” It’s common to hear about student’s dislike towards homework, but they might have a point. Less homework means that students could have more time to study and prepare for midterms, resulting in higher scores and less stress.
Ways To Ease Stress
There are many ways in which students can reduce their stress before midterms to help them perform better. One way is to try and avoid cramming and create a study schedule. It is also important to take breaks and relax, while also getting enough sleep.
With the amount of stress this year, it is important to recognize the health of students at CSCS. If they can remember to breathe and stay focused, students will do the best they can on this year’s midterms.
