For those who enjoy the thrill of slaying enemies in mass and the adrenaline in fun boss fights, they’re in luck as another game is being added to the Doom Series. The Doom series was started in 1993, but perfected in 2016 following an unnamed space marine protagonist commonly referred to as “Doom Guy” or “Doom Slayer”. Consisting of the usual “Doom gameplay”, you’ll play as the protagonist Doom Slayer, prepared to rip through demons with a chainsaw shield, smash them with a spiked flair, fly on a dragon, and control a giant mech in the form of a medieval knight.
On the contrary to action packed shooter or fighting games, 2025 is looking to hail the sequel to the aquatic survival game, Subnautica. Subnautica was released in 2018, taking place on a remote ocean planet after a near fatal crash from a spacestation named “The Aurora”. The main protagonist ended up being the only survivor from the accident, now having to explore the oceans and survive its dangers while completing tasks to advance the plot. Players can collect recources and blueprints, create tools, build bases, vehicles to travel the ocean, and connect with the wildlife of the planet. Subnautica 2, its sequel is planned to enter early access and possibly release in 2025 on the Xbox Series X and Windows PC’s, containing its iconic underwater survival gameplay that it’s known for.
“Borderlands 4 doesn’t need to be anything beyond more borderlands” – Polygon. Borderlands games are fps shooters with a looting twist, set in an openworld with a few RPG elements to spice it up. The game’s mechanics combine those of shooters like Doom and rng looting like Diabo. The player usually selects one of the characters representing Vault Hunters to find a fabled vault on a different planet. Each character has it’s own skill tree, or set of unlockable skills the player can use and grind for, aswell as quests to keep you busy while being attacked by the planet’s inhabitants. Completing quests and slaying/defeating enemies gifts the player ingame money and experience, used to unlock new skills in the characters skill tree. If the player dies or falls into a bottomless pit, they usually will respawn at a checkpoint and lose some of their earned money. Borderlands 4 plans to add new mechanics to further add to the gameplay, such as a grappling hook and a better map to explore on the Playstation 5, Windows PC’s, and Xbox Series X.
