We all start off the same.
A small seed,
Who still has limitless potential,
And so much to come.
It’s life’s cruel joke on man,
That the simplest part of one’s
Is the part that evades the hold of our memory.
Leaving us a blank slate,
Ready to learn and grow.
Slowly becoming a seedling.
Only seeing the joy that is in the world.
Having no control of the world around them,
But starting to le set in their place,
Learning how to be who they will be.
Too quickly being forced to grow up,
Becoming a sapling.
Knowing too much about the world
At too young.
Thinking they know the true way of the world,
But truly only seeing the hurt that it gives.
The fear, the pain, and how those have done them wrong.
Only feeling the resentment and anger that have festered in the world.
However, slowly they grow.
Healing from the pain that life has inflected on they,
And not forgetting but learning from the path they have followed.
Eventually growing into a flower.
Although wilted, beautiful.
A true testament to the resilience of life and all it has to offer.
Even though it’s painful, and tests the strength of many,
This tedious cycle of pain and wonder is what ties the living all together.
The simple fact that we all grow.
We all learn.
We all change.
And that someday we will all be flowers.
