Music is a form of art that has caught people’s interest for thousands of years. Throughout these years, many different eras and genres of music have existed and changed such as pop, rock, country, rap, etc. Ever since we came into the 21st century the music has been more revolved around pop and rap. Despite this, rock music from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s still reigns the best type of music till this day and is significantly better than today’s music.
Current music consists constantly of repetitive beats and the same sounds. It is nowhere near the harmonies of Queen, the guitar solos of Led Zeppelin, or the storytelling of Bruce Springsteen. These songs had meaning and were anthems to the whole world, everyone knew them. Songs like “We will rock you” by Queen, or “Sweet child of mine” by Guns N Roses are known everywhere by all kinds of people.
What truly sets classic rock apart is the emphasis on songwriting. These songs weren’t just catchy, they told stories. They explored complex emotions, tackled social issues, and gave voice to generations. You can’t exactly say the same about the majority of today’s pop and rap lyrics. While there are exceptions, much of modern music seems to prioritize trends over authenticity.
While modern music often relies heavily on technology and studio tricks, classic rock was built on the raw talent and passion of the musicians. It was music made by humans, for humans. That’s why it continues to connect with people to this day on a great level. It’s not just nostalgia; it’s the timeless authentic art of music.
