The Coral Springs Charter Panthers baseball team has had a rocky start to the new season, losing both of their games so far. Coach Renny Tolentino anticipates taking those early defeats and using them as learning experiences later.
On February 11th, the Panthers kicked off their 2023 season with a challenging matchup against St. Thomas Aquinas High School Raiders. Sadly, after a projected season and a first-game performance, Coral Springs Charter fell 7-3. “I think we're gonna come out, not as strong, as we want to, because, you know, we have been looking for a coach for like a while,” said sophomore Ryan Karbalaieasghar the day before the game.
This was the Panthers' first game of the year with head coach Renny Tolentino, who recently took the job after the class coach was fired for unknown reasons. Despite coming out on the losing end, this was a great game for the Panthers to see what they're doing well and what they need to focus more work on. "I think I'm gonna do pretty well because in the fall I produce really well for my team," said pitcher Jack Foti before the game in good spirits. Unfortunately, Jack was mistaken as he let up two home runs, which added to the team's woes.
The Panthers faced the Coral Glades Jaguars a week after their first loss, losing 7-2. Coach Tolentino emphasized the importance of learning from these early challenges and using them as opportunities for growth. With plenty of games left to play, Coral Springs Charter aims to turn their early struggles into fuel for a successful season ahead.
