Bingo Night is a fun-filled event with excitement and friendly competition that brings friends and families together. Bingo Night is loved by many students since Paw Print continues to host it every year. This event raises the most money to help fund the publication and pay for some students’ FSPA trip.
Bingo Night was full of prizes that students went out of their way to get for the winners. Round one was red, and the prizes included a $35 Chili’s and Tijuana Flats gift card, Trader Joe’s snacks and gift card, and a $100 Naked Taco gift card. Next was the orange round, which included a $25 Let’s Chill gift card, a Kilwins quart of ice cream and five free Cookiehead cookies, and four Paragon Theater Lux Box tickets with four popcorn vouchers. Furthermore, the yellow round featured a high school yearbook plus CSCS merchandise, four Silverspot movie tickets, and four Zoo Miami tickets plus a Jellycat plush.
In addition, the green round had five Altitude 90-minute passes, Cecilie’s, a $25 Monster Mini Golf gift card, four golf passes, a digital camera, and two Butterfly World admission tickets with Plaster Carousel art supplies. Last but not least, the blue round had Crocante Bakery coffee mugs plus two $15 gift cards, a $50 Spikey Ty Sushi gift card, and a Big Bear dinner for two. Finally, the pink round included a Four Rivers dinner for two, two Pepperoni Grill pizzas plus a $25 Doris Italian Market gift card, and $125 at Wings Plus.
“I won a dinner for two at Texas Roadhouse, and this is very convenient for me since I love their food and live very close to the restaurant,” said Kelsey Croft, a high school history teacher.
The work that goes into planning Bingo Night requires a lot of effort and help from the Paw Print staff. During their classes, they plan out all the prizes, which totaled 18 this year.
“I coordinated baskets and helped with all the financing that went into each basket. Also, behind the scenes, we all had so much fun working together,” said Kaila White, an editor at Paw Print.
Students created flyers to pre-sell their tickets to help their grade, and for those attending FSPA, this could benefit them significantly. Staff arrived an hour early to set up for their guests by arranging tables, distributing pencils and highlighters, providing instructions on how to play each round, and setting up a snack booth selling items for $1.
Bingo Night is especially important for students trying to raise money for their state trip. Select students are chosen to attend if they participated in districts earlier and if their work has high potential. The total cost to attend is $600, and the money they raise through volunteering helps reduce their total cost. This event raises the most money, which is why many students attend and invite their friends and family.
The Paw Print staff works extremely hard to make the night successful, but the real face behind it all is journalism teacher Kimberly Pekala.
“Over 100 people showed up, and we raised $2,600, which really benefited the students,” said Pekala.
Bingo Night has happened for three years now, and it continues because students have fun and it is always successful.
Paw Print knows how to have a great time while also raising money for their publication. Bingo Night was filled with excitement and laughter as people played their cards. The night was memorable and successful—a great way to bring friends, families, and even strangers together. This was truly a night to remember.
