As Coral Springs keeps expanding, Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer Bowen plans to improve our city. Making history as a CSC alum, as well as the first Black and Haitian-American woman on city commision, she is dedicated to creating a better future for all with a love for public service. Metayer Bowen has established a clear agenda in improving public safety, economic growth, and neighborhood community involvement. "I am committed to creating an inclusive, open government that serves all residents," said Metayer Bowen. She is aware of the problems the city is confronting, saying, "Like many cities, we have to balance growth with maintaining a high quality of life."
Ensuring that every voice is heard is a critical aspect of Metayer Bowen's leadership. "I believe in active listening and inclusive decision-making," she said. Through outreach to citizens and neighborhood groups across the city, she strives to make policies that reflect the needs of the people.
She has described her leadership style as collaborative and community-based. Metayer Bowen has developed into an adaptive and responsive leader. "Listening to various voices and leveraging data-informed methods enable me to make informed choices that serve the whole city," she said. This approach does ensure that the policies implemented are efficient and sustainable.
Community involvement remains central to Metayer Bowen's style of governing. She engages with residents themselves in town meetings, social media contact, and in-person discussions. Cultivating civic participation, she asks citizens to attend commission meetings and serve on advisory boards to inform city policy.
The Vice Mayor is a strong believer in transparency in the local government. She has been advocating for efforts like live-streaming public hearings and increasing digital access to city data. "We focus on ethical governance and fiscal responsibility in order to earn the trust of our residents,"she stated.

"Disagreements are unavoidable, but I attempt to greet them with an open mind and a desire to find common ground," she explained. By shifting the spotlight onto solutions that will serve the greater good, she opens up many voices to contribute to informing decision-making.
In the future, Metayer Bowen hopes for a more sustainable, resilient, and diverse Coral Springs. She would like to establish long-term projects that benefit the generations of the future.
Metayer Bowen anticipates future city projects, such as city beautification and environmental preservation programs such as the Everglades Loop. She is also leading efforts in public safety and affordable housing expansions.
Although her focus is on serving Coral Springs, Metayer Bowen looks to other opportunities of public service in the future. "I am committed to public service and always ready for an opportunity that keeps me capable of making a positive impact on people's lives.”
