The FHSAA 2A District 13 Track meet has concluded and many of our Panthers qualified for regionals and even through to states. The meet was held at Calvary Christian Academy and a large variety of events were held throughout the day. The team competed in relays, hurdles, javelin, pole vault, discus, and high jump. Many of our Panthers placed very high and qualified through to regionals in all of these events. The team’s head coach is Coach Barr and the head assistant coaches are Coach Virgin and Coach Maniscalco.
11 runners qualified through the individual events, both boys and girls. These runners were Shaun Blum, Justin Laroche, Gianna Barnes, Lily Richardson, Kendall Parrott, Austin Stewart, Alyson Thomas, Sydney McDougall, Cecillia Kozlowkski, Chelsea Gabrizo, and Sarah Manigat. Many of these athletes are very young and have great room to grow in the coming years.
The Panthers placed exceptionally well in the relay events. The girls placed 6th in the Women’s 4x100m Relay, 11th in the Women's 4x400m Relay, and 4th in the Women’s 4x800m Relay. The girl’s 4×100 Relay placed fairly high and was able to qualify them through to states.
Six of the pole vaulters on the team qualified through to regionals and placed well in districts. The boy vaulters were Daylen Martineau, Drew Maniscalco, Chase Powell, and Jordan Head. The girls had two vaulters qualify and they were Anabella Thornberry and Rylie Gentile. In addition to the vaulters, Jan-Paul Londono for the boys and Anayah Bell for the girls qualified for regionals.
Senior, Adriana Harris was able to secure a first-place finish in the shot put event and qualified straight through to states. Trinity Dorvil placed just behind in a respectable third place. In addition to Adriana qualifying for states, 8th grader Kendall Parrott qualified for states with a first-place finish in the Women’s 3200 Meters.
The final events of the day consisted of the discus and javelin followed shortly after that. Anthony Lowe was the only boy who qualified for this event and Trinity Dorvil and Adriana Harris for the girls. The javelin event consisted of two girls Mia Collela and Mackenzie Maniscalco.
