On June 20th, 2025 Netflix released their new movie “Kpop Demon Hunters” and ever since, everything about it has become a spiking trend. Since the movie has been released, people have been obsessing over the plot, the songs, the characters, and so much more. Along with this, it has earned the title of the #1 watched movie on Netflix with over 3 billion streams globally.
The plot of this movie focuses on a Korean Girl group, called Huntrix, that fights off demons for a living. While living their demon fighting K-pop idol life, a group of demon boys disguises themselves as a Korean boy group, called the Saja boys, in order to take Huntrix down. Throughout the movie both these groups battle each other while also learning more about who they are whether a human or a demon and maintaining amazing friendship throughout the whole time.
This movie includes a plethora of uplifting and fun songs that have been trending all over social media. Some known songs might be “Golden,” “Soda pop,” and “Your idol.” According to Spotify’s USA data, the song “Your idol” is the most streamed song within the country with over 100 million streams. Along with this, ChartData also reported that the Saja Boys are now the highest charting male K-pop group in US Spotify History, surpassing BTS. On social media, the Saja Boys “Soda pop” dance has become viral and have many influences and popular K-pop groups, such as StrayKidz, ZeroBaseOne, Enhypen, and so much more, copying this dance and post it for their fans to see.
Not only have the plot and music taken a large impact on the audience, but so have the characters themselves. Many people, grown and young, have tried to portray their favorite characters by dressing up like them or doing a similar hairstyles for special events. Its not just on a physical appeal but also a personal. This movie visits what its like to feel different, or not enough, which makes people feel a “connection” to the characters
Although this movie came out early summer, it still hold a special place in its fans hearts as it makes a comeback to be shown in theatre’s recently as a sing along.
