Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire

Ghostbusters: the Frozen Empire is a recap of the remake Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021). In the 2016 reboot, it’s all women trying to prove ghosts exist and trying to make money after the main character got fired, and when people finally start believing that ghosts are roaming, they get into business. The 2021 version one of the original characters’ granddaughter figures out her grandfather is a Ghostbuster and that’s what she’s meant to become.

Ghostbusters: the Frozen Empire starts when the Spengler family returns to the NYC firehouse where in the original movie, Ghostbusters, takes place. They discover an old ancient artifact and it unleashes an evil force, worse than what happened in the past. Both new and old Ghostbusters unite to protect the city and their firehouse, and save the world from the second ice age.

Overall the movie wasn’t really bad. It was a kick off from the last one that came out in 2021, which I feel like people liked more when at the end the main character moved into the house of Egon Spengler and came to realize her grandfather wasn’t crazy and was actually helping the world-busting ghost with his partners. The fact that we were able to see his ghost (and the OGs came to help out the main character) is probably what made people like the movie even more, as with Frozen Empire, where they all come in together to capture the ghost, and then try and get this ancient evil try and take over the world with snow and freezing anything and everything in its path.

Honestly, I think we can all agree that the main character, Phoebe, is too annoying. I would’ve liked it better maybe if it was the 2016 one combined with the old one; maybe a character from 2021, and something worse happened and there was a big cliffhanger to get people to want to know what happened next and to get them invested in it even more. Though most would be mad, like the Spiderman movie, if the next movie of it came out amazing and world-shocking most would greatly appreciate it.
