The new rule that punishes students for wearing our old school colors is a bad policy that just does not make sense, and the admin should fix it as soon as possible. Getting in trouble for wearing a shirt that is not the correct school color anymore, or even if it’s an older version of the shirt, is completely unfair and takes away so many options of what we can wear on a daily basis and it needs to be changed back to the old policy immediately.
The school's dress code has become much stricter this 2025-2026 school year. I wore a plain cotton shirt to school one morning, and I was quickly stopped as soon as I walked into the school building and I was given a consequence by our school admin. This is completely unfair how we already have a uniform and now I am even more limited in options and need to spend even more money on uniforms. I already have just the wrong color or wrong material. This is wrong because it is the school's old colors or materials. We should not be punished for wearing our school's history.
The new policy is not fair and definitely not smart. School rules about clothes already cost many families a lot of money. Now, the school is telling parents they must buy whole new sets of clothes just because the color of the shirt has changed a little bit. This can turn into a huge issue. We have to throw away and waste clothes that are fine and were bought to support the school. We are asking families who already struggle to spend new money for a silly color change. The school cares more about a tiny rule that overall should not be a big worry due to the logo on all of the school shirts, pants and our ID badges.
We also need to talk about the punishments, which are definitely too harsh. Are we really saying that wearing the wrong shade of blue deserves the same big punishment like detention or uniform violation as a student who causes a real problem in class? That is ridiculous. This focus on checking colors takes time away from teachers and staff when in reality it's all the same with a logo and everything. Why even change the dress code in the first place? Our staff should be helping us learn and fixing way bigger problems than a student minding their business simply wearing an old shirt from the school.
The new dress code creates and causes huge inconsistency problems for the staff who are enforcing it. When the difference between the "right" blue and the "wrong" old blue is so little and should be the least of our worries walking into school. How can every teacher and administrator check it fairly? One student might get stopped, and another wearing a similar shirt might walk right past. This leads to students thinking the rule is being enforced by favoritism or mood, not by a clear policy. Staff time should be spent teaching and counseling students, not arguing over whether a specific shade of shirt is approved or not. This nitpicking distracts everyone from the real goal of education.
To conclude, this new dress code policy raises many concerns and is very unfair. It is a distraction and distracts us from real education. The school needs to rethink these changes and come up with a better solution immediately.
