The Formula one Miami Grand Prix took place a few weekends ago, on Sunday, May 3rd at the Miami International Autodrome. The circuit is temporary and is built around the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. The highly anticipated world championship fight returned after a 5 week break, following the cancellations of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabia grand prix.
Before the Miami Grand Prix, Kimi Antonelli stood at P1 in the world championship. George Russel was not far behind at P2. Charles Leclerc was standing at P3. So far, fans believe that Mercedes will take home the Constructors and World Drivers Championship. Although we are only at the fourth race of the year, Mercedes has shown remarkable dominance.
This race was the fourth Grand Prix in the race calendar. The Miami circuit is known to produce incredible racing. The race started with a chaotic turn 1. The race leader, Kimi Antonelli, had a rough start and dropped down a few places. Max Verstappen had an okay start before his car spinned 360 degrees, causing him to lose a few places. Eventually, Charles Leclerc took the lead of the race.
Antonelli, Norris, Piastri, and Verstappen all spent time at the front of the race. Safety Car periods were triggered early in the race due to incidents involving Isaak Hadjar and Pierre Gasly. This further influenced team strategies.
As the race went on, Antonelli and Norris were racing each other. despite the McLaren driver remaining very close, Antonelli maintained control and crossed the finish line. Antonelli claimed his third consecutive win of the season, holding off strong pressure from McLaren. Norris finished in second place, and his partner Oscar Piastri took third place.
This result strengthened Antonelli’s position in the world championship and Mercedes' position in the Constructors championship. Despite this, the 2026 championship battle is far from decided. There are many races left, giving other teams an opportunity to take the lead.
