Leave the World Behind

When technology is missing, why does our sanity get lost too? A poem inspired by the film “Leave the World Behind”

We live in a realm of blue light and screens, once a vibrant world.
A hollow echo of its former self takes its place.
A digital tempest strikes, chaos unleashed, causing this mayhem.
Technology, our lifeline, severed, leaving us adrift, leaving us alone.

“Leave the world behind,” they whisper, spoken in the darkness,
a call to abandon the artificial, the superficial, the distractions.
Now a barren wasteland the world is,
humanity stripped bare, exposed in its rawest form.

In the face of crisis, the flaws of mankind emerge;
selfishness, greed, the hunger for power – all unmasked.
Once a playground, now transformed to a battlefield,
the consequences of consumerism, stark and unforgiving.

Yet, in the depths of despair, a glimmer of hope,
a chance to rediscover, to reconnect, to rebuild.
To leave the world behind, not in abandonment, but in rebirth,
to find the humanity lost in the chaos, the silence, the darkness.

“Leave the world behind,” they whisper, a plea, a prayer,
a call to action, a call to change, a call to awaken.
In the face of adversity, the strength of mankind emerges,
Compassion, unity, the will to survive, all unmasked.

In the end, we are not defined by our technology, our distractions,
but by our actions, our choices, our humanity.
“Leave the world behind,” they whisper, a promise, a prophecy,
a new world awaits, beyond the chaos, the silence, the darkness.
