The High School Drama Program put on their annual spring musical, with this year’s musical being Seussical. Many students had an amazing time throughout the musical, which was based off of Cat in the Hat and a boy named Jojo.
The characters are what truly make an amazing musical and what makes people want to keep watching. Cat in the Hat was played by Senior Javian Muniez, with this being his first year he was very proud of himself. “I loved doing the musical this year and being able to play Cat in the Hat. It was so much fun.” said Muniez. Cat in the Hat is a very light and unserious part of the musical. His character makes fun of Jojo and sometimes gets him into troubling situations.
Junior Juliette Janeceek played the character of Jojo. She has been in the musical for the past 3 years. “I really enjoyed this musical specifically because I definitely explored a different side and I just had a lot of fun,” said Janeceek.
There is so much more that goes into planning the musical that not many people realize. The students will spend many hours for weeks after school rehearsing and going over their lines over and over again until they know them. Many students were tired and exhausted throughout the process but that never stopped them from wanting to be their best. While also planning behind the scenes a major part of that is the tech team. The tech team builds all the sets and that is what really makes the musical come to life visually.
The brains behind the musical is Mrs. Butler. Mrs. Butler always puts her heart and soul into every show. This year she was very proud of the outcome and of her students. Many people loved the musical and loved how light hearted it was and fun to watch.
