Our school held their annual Powder Puff Games at the Coral Glades Field. Powder Puff Games are when boys present themselves as cheerleaders and the girls play flag football on the field. The game was on and the boys were cheerleading with their tutus and pom poms and the girls were working hard to catch the flags.
This year our Class of 2029 senators held the event and worked to ensure that everyone had a good time. They had 6 coaches for each team, 3 for the flag football girls, and 2 for the boys cheering. Freshman Ishani Habbu was one of the coaches for the freshman flag football team. "I enjoyed being a coach because it was great for team bonding,” said Habbu. “I feel communication about the event to the participants could have been better.”
The games still went smoothly and guests were allowed to go on to the field and watch the game from up close. The boys cheerleading entertained the audience, as they did half time performances. Every class had a cheer team so they each went one by one trying to be better than the last one. They did stunts, jumps and they even did flips!
The flag football girls worked hard, running fast and going after the ball. The freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors were the four teams that competed against each other. In the first round the freshman went up against the juniors. The juniors won and took the lead. In the next round the sophomores, and seniors went head to head. The seniors won and it was time for the finals. The seniors and the sophomores played a tough game, but in the end the seniors took home the gold.
