On Friday, Apr. 10, from 7 p.m to 9 p.m., the Parks and Recreation Department hosted its annual Wacky Olympics, an evening filled with laughter, camaraderie, and friendly competition. This free community event brought together friends and families to watch local middle school teams as they battled for the title of Wacky Olympics champion through a variety of unconventional challenges.
Beyond the wacky competitions, the night was designed for maximum school spirit. Spectators were encouraged to wear school colors and create signs, while the event organizers provided colorful pom-poms, sunglasses, and foam fingers to help the crowd cheer.
To keep everyone energized, a concession stand remained open throughout the night, offering a variety of snacks and beverages. Ultimately, the event served as a perfect opportunity for the community to bond and create lasting memories through lighthearted sport
“The event brings out the camaraderie between all the local middle schools, classmates, teachers, and parents,” Event Coordinator Ellis Brundrett said. “We pride ourselves on making it wacky and lighthearted, allowing everyone to tap into their competitive side with activities you wouldn’t typically see in a traditional sports league.”
The Wacky Olympics swapped the stress of a scoreboard for pure school spirit. By trading serious rivalry for a lot of laughs, the event brought everyone together and proved that the “wackiest” nights are usually the most memorable.
