Sadly (but not really) Mr. Cheater traded a Rolex for a Casio and separated with the amazing latino pop icon Shakira. We finally recently got a glimpse as to how Shakira feels.

To recap their relationship: the two of them met in 2010 during the FIFA World Cup held in South Africa. Shakira had just popped off the greatest song of all time “Waka Waka (This time for Africa),” which was the official song of the Cup. Almost all the famous football players at the time were in the video, including the famous cheater, Gerard Piqué, who was an up-and-coming FC Barcelona defender. He chased after Shakira. ”When I saw the video, I was like, ‘Hmm he’s kind of cute,’” said Shakira.

I think she was definitely being paid to say this because his face looks like the mirror would break if he looked at it. I get everyone has their type, but…

The two of them talked about the weather, and Piqué had grown to like her. Presentes said “we would have to get to the World Cup final to see her again” because she was going to be singing at the final. Spain went to the world cup. They later confirmed their relationship, and they had two kids shortly after.

Why would you cheat on the mother of your children? She risks her body and lives for the children that you so deeply love. Not just that, but she had dedicated a whole song that won her first Grammy, “Me Enamore,” about how the two fell in love.

I feel so bad for Shakira, as she’s gone through so much, and getting a Grammy, especially in the western media, is not easy for Latina women. The goal she worked so hard for was dedicated to her cheating ex.

Piqué had announced his retirement from professional Football on August 11, 2018, with the FC Barcelona Club. He wasn’t that talented compared to players like Messi, Naymer, and Suarez. Let’s just say his leaving didn’t have much of an impact.

Through 2019, Shakira had experienced depression after suffering a hemorrhage of her right vocal cord. She couldn’t sing, and had felt lonely. The two were having trouble communicating.

On June 2, 2022, the world exploded and Shakira’s DM’s were open as the pair separated, which the two announced in a joint statement.

Shakira revealed a few months later on the Ellen show that her separation was the “darkest hour of my life.” It was challenging for her children as they are still just kids trying to enjoy their life and cope with their parents separation while in the public eye. I can’t imagine what they might be going through. The two later reached a custody agreement.

Their split was like a movie. According to a Latino-American program, “El Gordo y La Flaca,” Shakira had hired a private investigator after some fishy actions from Piqué. He was later betrayed by the investigator as they had brought the information to news sites for money. Accordingly, Shakira had paid off most of the investigators and reportedly some information will never be released.

In 2023, Shakira released a verse of a song. It was magic to my ears, shading her ex whatever in the best way possible.
