On November 22nd, of 2024, the production of Wicked, staring Ariana Grande as Glinda and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, made its way to theatres. When this movie came out, it was a big hit. Fans were obsessing over the songs, actors, visuals, and so much more. Many companies collaborated with wicked making everyday products, such as beauty supplies, bags, games, foods and a plethora of other things, wicked themed. As November 21st of 2025 hit, so did the final Wicked movie. Wicked For Good.
To Recap what happened in the first Wicked movie, this movie goes into intense detail on the friendship that is formed between two witches, Elphaba and Glinda, during their time at Shiz university. These two girls bond over many shared experiences but later on, their paths start to fade away from each other once they get to meet the Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Later, Elphaba is now perceived as the Wicked Witch of the West because of her fighting passion for animal rights but the film ends with her truly embracing her power and destiny.
When it comes to Wicked For Good, this movie focuses on the Wicked Witch of the West (Elphaba), and her time in the Ozian forest, while Glinda lives at the palace in Emerald City with her fame and popularity. As more people grow anger towards the Wicked Witch, she is determined to reunite with Glinda in order to transform herself, and all of Oz, for good.
Although Wicked is for all people to enjoy and watch, both these movies give a deeper understanding and different perspectives of female friendships which might lead women to have more of a connection with the plot and the characters.
Coming back to Wicked brand collaborations, one of the most popular ones is Dunkin Donuts. Dunkin donuts released special drinks based on each witch and Wicked inspired munchkins. For Elphaba, they released “Wicked Green matcha” which is iced matcha with brown sugar and toasted almond. For Glinda they released the “Wicked Pink Refresher.” This is a combination of sparkling strawberry, dragonfruit, and blueberry. When it comes to the munchkins, they released glazed donuts that are covered in pink and green sprinkles which come in a special munchkin tin.
Food companies are not the only brands collaborating with Wicked. Some other brands collaborating with Wicked are beauty brands, such as Ariana Grande’s personal beauty brand (R.E.M. beauty), clothing brands, toy brands, and much more.
Although the story of Wicked and Elphaba has come to an end, the impact of their friendship on the viewers will forever be in their hearts.
