After four years of silence, Harry Styles is finally back. Coming off of his Grammy-winning album, Harry’s House, fans have been waiting for his return to the starlight and they couldn’t be happier.
Harry Styles took to his social media and posted the announcement of his fourth studio album, “Kiss All the Time, Disco Occasionally” on January 15, and fans couldn’t be more excited.
On January 22, Harry ended his 1,343-day silence with the release of his first lead single “Aperture” off his new album, which hit number 1 on the charts on February 7. According to Billboard, “‘Aperture’ instantly develops as the 1,186th Hot 100 No. 1, and the 88th to debut in the top spot.” It also says how it is the “second Hot 100 No. 1 debut so far this year”.
This song came with a new sound, different from his other works. It is described as “vibey”, with its experimental electronic/house sound. Fans, like junior Cayden France, said that it wasn’t an instant hit, but after a couple of listens, she has grown to love it.
This new song takes a step away from his softer pop sound, and into this new direction of mature, electronic pop. Instead of short, streamer-friendly tracks, Styles released a longer, slow-building electronic/house track that has got fans excited and wanting to hear more.
With Aperture being a single, it received a music video, being described as cinematic; more like a short film than a music video. The vibes were very laid back and effortless, complementing the song and lyrics. The transition between thriller to dance was very smooth, and showcased Styles’s creativity.
Along with a hot new single, the “Together, Together” tour was announced later, on the same date as “Kiss All the Time, Disco Occasionally”. This tour spans from the cities Amsterdam, NL; London, UK; São Paulo, BR; New York, NY; along with Melbourne and Sydney, AU for a total run time of 50+ shows.
Fans have mixed reviews of the tour decisions, as there are only six cities, with many large countries only having one location that Styles will be performing in. While some are thrilled with the extensive date options, others are not happy about the limited locations.
An example of this is with him only going to New York, NY but for 30 nights, instead of a couple different nights in multiple cities across the enormous US. Many people, including junior Annabelle Grimaldi, don’t want to spend all the money to travel to New York, and many can’t even afford it.
Continuing the topic of costs, the prices for tickets have been outrageous. With the range being from the nose-bleeds worth $300+ to being in the pit worth $5,000, fans are having trouble affording to be in the arena.
The ticket prices for his tour aren’t aligning with all this advertising of “we belong together” that Styles has been doing since before the announcement of the new album. In fact, fans have been making memes on social media platforms of the prices by using the audio “I don’t want you to go broke” from his “Music for a Sushi Restaurant” with the captions being along the lines of ‘yes you do’ (alluding to the atrocious ticket prices).
For those fortunate enough to gain tickets, the unofficial dress code for the Together, Together tour is comfortable, stylish, and shimmering outfits to match the 70s disco-inspired album theme. Styles himself declared that fans should wear “comfy shoes” as he encourages lots of dancing.
This new sound makes listeners want to hit the dancefloor and let loose, really being absorbed into the song and vibes.
While many have predictions for what this new album will bring based on the present information, listeners will officially know when “Kiss All the Time, Disco Occasionally” is finally released on Friday, March 6.
