In 2013, a seven-member K-pop boy group debuted and shook the music industry. Not only did they dominate in Korea, but they also dominated globally. BTS, created by BigHIt Entertainment, consists of Jin, Suga, Jungkook, V, RM, Jimin, and J-Hope. They quickly rose from rookies to international stars. They have won numerous awards, including Billboard Music Awards and American Music Awards.
Despite their accolades and growing success, the group went on a 4-year hiatus. Their most recent album, Proof, was released in June of 2022. So, why would the biggest boy group in the world go on a 4-year hiatus? Why would they take a break with so much success? The members were required to complete mandatory South Korean military service, temporarily stepping away from their careers. By 2025, all seven members completed their military service.
After four long years, fans finally received an official announcement. In January 2026, a BTS world tour and full length album was announced. The world tour features over 70 dates across North America, Europe, Asia, and Latin America. There is also speculation for more dates to be announced in 2027. The tour is set to start in April 2026.
The tour and album announcement immediately sparked a huge response from fans, referred to as ARMY, across social media. Additionally, BigHit Entertainment released a statement about the upcoming BTS album. They disclosed that the members were heavily involved in the creation of the new album. The album features deep feelings and emotions that the BTS members have experienced throughout their journey.
ARMY’s on TikTok and Instagram made countless videos about the world tour. Fans speculated ticket prices, setlists, outfits, and more. People were scrambling to figure out the best way to secure BTS tickets. Major venues sold out extremely quickly. For example, Toronto sold out in 10 minutes, and Chicago in 14 minutes. Over 2.4 million tickets were sold. The initial 41 shows completely sold out. This tour is one of the largest of its caliber in K-pop history.
With an upcoming album and global tour, the BTS comeback is more than a return to music. This is a brand new chapter for the seven members. This era will be unforgettable for fans around the world.
