Students have waited so long for season 2 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians because it is a major step up that finally finds its “sea legs”. It adapts the second book, The Sea of Monsters, and earns a solid 8/10 for being faster, funnier, and more exciting than the first season.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians is an adventure series based on the book written by Rick Riordan.
The series is about Greek mythology entwined with the real world. Percy is a demigod The child of Poseidon and a human and he is sent to Camp half-blood, a secret training sanctuary for other kids like him. Percy has been framed for stealing Zeus’s masterbolt and is on a quest with his other half-blood friends Annabeth (Daughter of Athena) and Grover ( A satyr and Percy’s protector) to put a stop to a war that could possibly happen. Percy goes on many quests to fight monsters and to navigate teenage life while dealing with the gods.
The new season is an 8/10 because it feels more realistic. In season 1, it was more of an introduction and lots of talking but now the show gets to the point. The jokes come out better, and the special effects + CGI for the monsters and ocean makes it look very cinematic. The bond between the 3 main actors became much stronger.
In The Sea of Monsters, the stakes are much higher because the magical tree that protects Camp Half-Blood has been poisoned. To save their safe home, the crew has to travel to the Bermuda Triangle to find the Golden Fleece. They also introduce Percy’s half brother Tyson, who’s a Cyclops which adds more love into the show.
Season 2 proves that the show gets better as it goes on. If you like the first season, you will definitely like this one. It’s a must-watch for those who love Greek mythology and action/adventure.
