Audria Brayboy, known by the students as Ms. Brayboy, has been at Charter for six years. During those years, she was a substitute and subbed for middle school and high school. Through the years, she fell more and more in love with teaching, and when an open spot for a teacher opened up, she took the offer.
She is now teaching ninth grade Pre-AICE and General English and loves the new position. “I’ve always had a love for teaching. When I first started college, my major was elementary education because I wanted to make a difference in students’ lives. Over time, my perspective on life shifted, and I realized I didn’t want to commit six years to college. Instead, I focused on completing my bachelor’s degree and finding a job that would support me as I pursued what I believe is most important in life.” Her love for helping students succeed academically and get to where they want in life brought her to Charter.
Audria Brayboy didn’t just take the open spot because it was a better job or higher position; she took it because she has a deep value for inspiring and teaching children. “My hope is to inspire every student I meet, but if even one student were to say, ‘You made a difference,’ that would mean the world to me.”
A freshman at Charter named Chloe Etter has Ms. Brayboy for Pre-AICE English. She says, “Ms. Brayboy will always take the time to make sure everyone is doing well in class and will always give us extra help if needed.” This shows that she always takes the time and makes sure all of her students pass and do well in her class.
