Senior Blake Weter has been known to be the media face at Charter. He does a lot of activities at school: he is the president of the broadcast program, the NHS vice president of communications, a state competitor in DECA, the Class of 2026 historian, and many other clubs.
Weter has been doing broadcast for four years, since he was a freshman. Most students at Charter would say that they know him from CTV2, our school news show. He comes up on the screen to talk about what is happening next and will always save room for some humor!
This year, our school held its annual school musical. He stated that “I have been going to the theater banquets without actually being in theater, and I had a bunch of friends in there that told me I should do it. I used to do track in the spring, so that is why I didn’t do theater, but junior year I decided I would give it a try, and if I didn’t like it, I would go back to track.” He ended up enjoying theater, and his junior year he auditioned to be in the Shrek play. He got the role of Peter Pan. His senior year, he auditioned for the Seussical musical and got the lead role as Horton the elephant.
If all of this wasn’t enough, Weter is also in DECA. DECA is a club that has to do with business. He has been doing it for two years. He says that in DECA he has to make an independent business plan for his group. He competes in competitions, one being the Career Development Conference that was held in Orlando. He says, “My friend and I got second place in the state.”
