The task of managing sports while also handling the pressure of turning in school work on time while also being able to grasp all the information they’re learning. For most students the hardest part of trying to manage sports and school is widely considered to be the overall challenge of making time for both school and sports. Although it's really stressful and time consuming, the benefits of learning how to manage your time wisely and being able to enjoy doing the sports you enjoy and love at the end of the day.
Junior Thomas Givens said “ The hardest part of managing school and sports would be the intense course work and managing after school time, but the best part would be the away games.”
Sophomore Lucia Sclafani said “Managing school and sports is most difficult with practices right after school, but I love making friends with my teammates and cheering at games.”
Freshman Chloe Tan said “She gets to do what nnnbds she loves when she plays, but the mental challenge and trying to stay on top of work can get difficult at times.”
According to NCAA.org in 2023, 44% of female and 17% of male student-athletes reported feeling overwhelmed either "constantly or most every day”.
The pressure that comes with all these tasks also comes with a heavy weight of making sure your performance for your sport is good and being the best you can while handling school and effort for continuous good grades throughout the school year. Even though in school or out of school sports don't usually last the whole school year, the build up of assignments can become extremely stressful and create a feeling of pressure and maybe even failure on some student-athletes. Although it can be very stressful for many students-athelets, while trying to manage school work and time for sports, at the end of the day athletes get to do what they enjoy and make memories with teammates throughout the years of these sports they love.
