The Class of 2029 elections have recently passed, and it is getting very serious here at Charter. “We’re not voting for a random name to put on a poster” as Ishani Habbu puts it, “Class elections are not a poll for a title or label, the positions hold an immense value that will determine your experience with your class over the next year.” We’ve got a full week of campaigning ahead of us, the final results dropped on Apr. 17.
Freshman Ishani Habbu is running for Class President because she wants to make our class actually feel like a community. She is all about making sure everyone can participate, especially when it comes to making things affordable and fun for everyone. “My goal is to have an active class where each person knows one another and is excited and encouraged to participate,” said Habbu. She’s definitely prepared for it too. She held leadership spots in Builders Club, Panther Podcasting, and NJHS over the last three years, and she has already been Class Senator! Habbu spends a lot of time listening to what we actually want and has a bunch of ideas ready to go.
For Class of 2029 Vice President, freshman Camila Lopez is in the running. She’s been on the student council for a year now, so she’s seen all the behind the scenes and how things actually work, because of that she feels like she can fix things that others might miss. “I have seen a lot of stuff that has gone on inside the council and I know I can make it better in ways others can’t,” said Lopez. She really wants to use her position to make sure our voices are heard when it comes to big and important decisions. “I want to use my voice to help support my peers with decisions on what can be good for all of us, for all,” said Lopez.
Posters are all around school make sure you pay attention to the campaigns this week, because whoever wins will be representing us!
